The local branches of the SNP have come together to support Morton football club by buying a new pitch side advertising board at Cappielow. The Port Glasgow and Greenock & Inverclyde SNP activists recently visited the Morton stadium to unveil the new board.
Speaking at the launch of the new board, Jim Grieve SNP council candidate for the Cappielow area said:
"We really thought it was important for the SNP to support Inverclyde's local football team so we have purchased this board in the hope that it helps Morton financially.
"With so many of the local SNP members being Morton fans, it seemed like the most obvious way to support the club."
Council Candidate for Greenock town centre & West end, Chris Osborne, added:
"The Cappielow board has the SNP website on it so this as a great way of getting the SNP's positive vision for Scotland over to the fans.
"The website has all the party's policies for Mays election and a news section with all the latest election news.
"Interestingly we even had a local SNP member who supports St Mirren contributing to the cost of the board. I just wonder if he will be switching sides next time the two teams play each other." |
