SNP group leader welcomes council initiatives
Wed, 30 Sep 2009

ParkleaSNP group leader Councillor Jim MacLeod today welcomed several council initiatives that have been announced over the last week.

Cllr MacLeod said: "Our SNP group are delighted with several council announcements made over the past week. Announcements such as an additional new G3 football pitch for Parklea in Port Glasgow, the re-opening of yet another previously closed toilet at Hunter's Place in Greenock, and the planned roll out of Neighbourhood Watch Schemes which were promoted at last weekend's Community Safety seminar in Gourock's Gamble Halls.

"We are pleased to see these proposals which were made in our 2007 local election manifesto come to fruition in these welcome improvements in our local area.

"Add to this the increase in school clothing grants, the industrial survey carried out at IBM to investigate the subdividing of the buildings into small business units which should in turn create much needed local jobs, as well as an additional survey to investigate what council facilities require improvement works. From all this it is plain to see that it is SNP initiatives that have been a driving force behind much of the council's agenda over the past two and a half years."

Cllr. MacLeod concluded: "We are extremely pleased to see that it is the SNP's initiatives that are at the forefront in taking Inverclyde forward."
